Technology Library Educators can borrow high-tech equipment for their classrooms

The HealthForce Kentucky Technology Library is an inventory of cutting-edge equipment and state-of-the-art teaching tools from which educators in our 16-county region can borrow. We have developed videos to help educators understand how they can incorporate these instruments into their classes.

K-12, post-secondary, or post-licensure educators within our footprint are likely qualified to check equipment out of the Technology Library. View a comprehensive list of available equipment and submit a request for equipment.

Choking is the fourth leading cause of unintentional death. Choking Charlie is a sophisticated adult torso for teaching and practicing the life-saving technique known as the Heimlich Abdominal Thrust Maneuver. Wearable vests allow learners to administer abdominal thrusts on themselves.

Appropriate for all age groups.

Vivian is a highly accurate simulator of an 82-year-old female featuring fine details like the replication of veins and underlying structures, plus an airway and articulated mouth for airway management.

Vivian is appropriate for all age groups, but wound assessments and wound care are for advanced high school pathways and post-secondary learners.

Gwen gives clinical practitioners realistic training on individuals with Down Syndrome and opens doors to discuss special care for people with complex health issues. Gwen’s life-like features illicit an emotional connection, helping prepare practitioners for the situations they will face when working with patients – and for what they may feel.

In our top-notch Maker’s Space, our technicians create a variety of custom simulation wounds for wound-care practice and replacements for highly used consumables and wound-packing trainers.

Wound care kits are designed for health pathway classes and above. A six-week notice is required for most custom requests.

SAM4 is a male torso task trainer that produces a variety of heart and breath sounds. The elaborate simulator is controlled with a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet. Students can use their stethoscopes to listen to SAM4’s auscultation sounds or the sounds can be played through a speaker system.

This highly developed manikin provides training for Cricothyrotomy – a procedure to establish an airway with a surgical incision in the cricothyroid membrane.

Appropriate for those trained in or holding a certificate that permits this advanced skill in their scope of practice.

These pioneering manikins enable realistic trauma training, simulating a variety of blunt force and penetrating injuries to teach recognition of injury patterns and appropriate care for specific types of trauma.

This innovative manikin aids advanced skills training, including needle decompression, finger thoracotomy, and chest tube insertion. An included tablet supplements training with narrated, 3D-illustrated teaching modules.

This revolutionary birthing simulator trains to reduce complications from high-risk, low-frequency events during labor and delivery. The versatile modular design delivers a comprehensive experience through all stages of birth.
